The concept behind Music School Utrecht
No classroom, no waiting list and no fixed school year. You get a regular teacher who comes to your home every week, at a time that fits your schedule. You choose the lesson length, and you can change or stop on a monthly basis.
One rate covers everything: the lesson itself, your teacher’s preparation, the learning material and the travel to your address in Utrecht. You start with a trial month, so you find out whether you and your teacher click before committing further.

No hunting for a parking space in the city centre and no cycling through the rain to a lesson room: your teacher comes to you. That saves travel time, and it means you play on the instrument you practise on, in the room where you practise.
For children it means familiar surroundings and less juggling around school and sports. For adults it means a lesson after work stays realistic, even on a busy weekday.
Music lessons at home
We teach throughout Utrecht and the immediate area, including Utrecht-Oost, Wittevrouwen, Tuindorp, Zuilen, Overvecht, Kanaleneiland, Hoograven, Lombok, Oog in Al and Leidsche Rijn.
You choose the lesson slot yourself, on weekdays or at the weekend. If your schedule changes, we look for a suitable alternative together.

For students over 21 years old, the price is increased by 21% VAT.

Our teachers are working musicians: they perform on stage, play in ensembles and bands, and bring that practical experience into your living room. Their teaching experience matters just as much, because explaining technique to an eight-year-old beginner asks something different from guiding an adult who is picking it up again after twenty years.
When we match you, we look at more than the instrument: style, personality and your goal all count. If it does not click, we find you another teacher.

How does the trial month work?
Our trial month gives you the opportunity to try out lessons in a relaxed way – without long-term commitments. You get four lessons at the normal lesson rate and can quietly find out whether your instrument, your music teacher and our concept suit you. Only after this free trial month will you decide whether you want to continue for good.
How many music teachers are there?
Our team consists of around 15 experienced music teachers who teach a wide variety of instruments.
Do I always have the same music teacher?
Yes, we value continuity because a stable student-teacher relationship promotes learning success. If a teacher is absent, we will provide a suitable replacement.
What instruments are taught?
We offer lessons for many instruments such as guitar, piano, violin, cello, saxophone, flute or recorder. Singing lessons are also available. If the instrument of your choice is not listed, just contact us!
Can I borrow an instrument?
We do not rent instruments ourselves, but we work with major music stores and are happy to help you find the right instrument to rent.
How long is the contract and what happens during the vacations?
The tuition contract has a minimum term of six months and then can be cancelled with three months’ notice. Vacations are already included in the tuition fee.
How do I cancel an appointment?
Are you in the trial month and unable to keep an appointment? Please contact us at least 24 hours in advance.
If you already have a permanent contract, you can reschedule individual appointments in consultation with your instructor.
What teaching materials do I need?
That depends on your instrument, your age and your musical preferences. Your teacher will be happy to advise you!
Can I start music lessons at any age?
Yes! Whether you are a child, teenager or already an adult – music knows no age limit. We welcome
anyone who wants to learn to play an instrument.
